Although millions of UK expats now enjoy a life overseas, many do not realise the extent to which their lives are still affected by laws which are passed in the UK. If British expats do not exercise their right to vote, they may later find themselves having to adhere to new legislation regarding important matters, such as taxation and pensions, which will shape their future and have a real impact on their expat lifestyle.
Even if a person has lived outside of the UK for a while, they may still be eligible to vote. If the individual was on the British Electoral Roll at any point within the past fifteen years, then they are still allowed to register and vote at the coming General Election. Registration is quick and easy and the majority can be done online… but it must be done fast as time is running out.
There are 2.5 million UK expats who are still eligible to vote.
Use your vote. It’s your right.
Simply visit www.dontleaveyourvoteathome.com and complete the easy to follow instructions. Part of the form must be posted to your previous UK electoral registration officer (address details for which can be found at www.aboutmyvote.co.uk).
